Rudolph attended the NFL Scouting Combine and completed the majority of combine drills, but opted to skip the bench press, broad jump, short shuttle, and three-cone drill. Rudolph is the winner of the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given annually to the country's outstanding senior college quarterback. He was named the starter for the 2015 season in January of that year. In three games total, he completed 49 of 86 passes for 853 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions. Rudolph remained the starter for the final two games, including the 2015 Cactus Bowl victory against Washington. During the game, he completed 13 of 25 passes for 281 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. After Garman was injured, Rudolph started his first career game against Baylor. After Walsh was injured, Garman became the starter with Rudolph as his backup. Rudolph entered his true freshman season in 2014 as a third string behind J. He committed to Oklahoma State University to play college football. Rudolph was rated by as a four-star recruit and was ranked as the ninth-best pro-style quarterback in his class. He was a finalist for South Carolina's "Mr Football" award. He played in the Annual Shrine Bowl All-Star game was named the offensive MVP as he led South Carolina on a game-winning drive in the final 20 seconds. Rudolph was named after his father and grandfather he is not related to the former golfer Mason Rudolph. He would alternate starts with Devlin Hodges throughout the season. He saw starting action in 2019 after Ben Roethlisberger was injured early in the season. Rudolph spent the 2018 season as the Steelers' third-string quarterback and saw no game action in the regular season. He was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played college football at Oklahoma State, where he was a three-year starter and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award during his last year. If the Titans do not re-sign him before free agency and the need is there, Dobbs would seemingly be the most likely candidate to backup Pickett next year on a cheap deal.Brett Mason Rudolph III (born July 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). Dobbs did not get any starting experience throughout his career with the Steelers, but he has that on his resume now. The coaching staff likes him, and they stuck with him as a backup in different scenarios ever since they took him in the draft. The real question here would be if Dobbs thought coming back to Pittsburgh would be a good idea or not. He is a smart player that has shown the ability to absorb information and use his athleticism on the field. He could always return to the Tennessee Titans after he showed some good things after being thrust into action on short notice. He has been bounced around the NFL for some time now and has finally gotten some meaningful snaps as a starting quarterback. One of the most likely scenarios that could happen if the Steelers need a quarterback is the return of Josh Dobbs. Steelers could always bring Josh Dobbs back for another year Rudolph is a free agent and will likely sign elsewhere to win a backup role or better this offseason. He was shoved down to the third-string role that he handled with class. Mason Rudolph is gone, and who could really blame him? He has been stuck in the backup role and never got a real opportunity at the starting job with the Steelers this past season. Mitch Trubisky has voiced his frustrations and that could lead to a potential trade demand or a release if things continue to escalate. Quarterback might not seem like a focus this offseason, but that could change rather quickly. Many different scenarios could play out between now and the beginning of the regular season. Quarterback could become an immediate need for the Steelers if both Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky are set free this offseason.
